FEDEM Windpower

FEDEM Windpower is a flexible multi-body solver with capabilities for substructuring (Craig-Bampton reduction). In other words, the simulation is transient, based on a finite-element structural model (most common elements possible, i.e., not restricted to only beams), but some parts can be simulated using modes, in order to speed up the simulation. This is typically done for the transition piece, for example. The aerodynamic loads are provided through NREL AeroDyn, linked with the software.

FEDEM Windpower is under active development. The software is mainly a solver and has limited facilities for post-processing. Therefore separate, individual in-house scripts (e.g. using MATLAB) are used for this. Other capabilities are: control system modeling, soil pile modeling, use of response-amplitude-operators
