WAKEBENCH IEA Task took off successfully with more than 50 participants

The kick-off meeting of the IEA Task 31 WAKEBENCH "Benchmarking of Wind Farm Flow Models" took place at CENER's headquarters in Sarriguren, Spain, between the 4th and the 7th of October 2011. The aim of this task is to provide a forum for industrial, governmental and academic partners to develop, evaluate and improve atmospheric boundary layer and wind turbine wake models for use in wind energy.

The meeting was successful not only because of the high level of participation (more than 40 institutions from 15 countries) but also considering the high level of the technical presentations and the discussions. A technical tour to CENER's Test Site in complex terrain was guided on the last day despite the bad weather conditions.
